Deze foto\u2019s zijn eerder tentoongesteld geweest 22 december 2008 t\/m 22 februari 2009 in het <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jhm.nl\/\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Joods Historisch Museum<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> in Amsterdam. De expositie is in galerie FOTOexpo 202, Stadring 172 in Amersfoort en is geopend iedere zaterdag van 13.00 tot 17.00. De toegang is gratis. <span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Rond 1930 maakten de graanhandelaar Arie Speelman en zijn vrouw Anne Christine Speelman-van Vliet twee reizen naar Palestina. Tijdens deze reizen kochten zij bij de fotowinkel van The American Colony (een Amerikaanse leefgemeenschap op christelijke grondslag) meer dan duizend met de hand ingekleurde lantaarnplaatjes die letterlijk en figuurlijk een gekleurd beeld geven van wat voor hun toch vooral het Heilige Land was. Letterlijk, omdat ze met de hand zijn ingekleurd. Figuurlijk, omdat ze een ideologisch gekleurd beeld geven. In zekere zin tonen ze een gedroomd land waarin weinig te merken is van de gespannen verhouding tussen de joodse en Arabische bewoners.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Behalve een beeld van het &#8216;Heilige Land&#8217; geven de getoonde lantaarnplaatjes ook een boeiend beeld van het laat negentiende-eeuwse en vroeg twintigste-eeuwse Palestina, waarbij onder andere de stad Jeruzalem, de verschillende bevolkingsgroepen, stadsgezichten en landschappen getoond zullen worden.<\/p>\n<p>De lantaarnplaatjes zijn een voorbeeld van een\u00a0bijzondere fotografische techniek: ze zijn ingekleurd met waterverf en Oost-Indische inkt. Hierbij werd het negatief afgedrukt op een glasplaatje en vervolgens kunstig, vaak met de precisie van \u00e9\u00e9n enkele haar, ingekleurd. De bij The American Colony Photographers gekochte lantaarnplaatjes werden door het echtpaar Speelman in Nederland getoond op zogenoemde &#8216;Palestina-avonden&#8217; die een evangeliserend karakter hadden. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Wij zijn erg tevreden dat het ons gelukt is om deze buitengewone expositie nu in Amersfoort te kunnen laten zien.
